Summary
This study aims to analyze the impact of economic and trade factors on achieving food security in Algeria during the period 1990–2022. It focuses on examining the relationship between GDP, the Food Production Index, and the Global Food Price Index using the ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag) model. The results reveal a significant correlation between the studied economic indicators and food security, highlighting the fragility of Algeria’s food situation due to heavy reliance on imports and global market fluctuations. The study recommends boosting domestic production, diversifying food supply sources, and adopting sustainable economic policies to ensure national food security.
