This dissertation examined the role of technology hubs in attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), focusing on Shenzhen, China. The analysis combined theoretical frameworks with data to uncover how tech hubs like Shenzhen attract substantial FDI. Shenzhen's transformation from a fishing village to a global tech hub highlights the importance of government policy and strategic vision. The designation of Shenzhen as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) was crucial, emphasizing the role of regulatory frameworks and incentives like tax breaks, intellectual property protections, and streamlined bureaucracy in attracting foreign investors. Infrastructure and connectivity have been vital to Shenzhen's success. State-of-the-art technological infrastructure, reliable transportation, and advanced research facilities have drawn FDI and spurred innovation and competitiveness. Finally, collaboration between academia, industry, and government has fostered a culture of innovation. This tripartite model and a highly skilled workforce supported by world-class educational institutions have enhanced Shenzhen’s appeal as an FDI destination.
The findings offer valuable lessons for other regions aspiring to become tech hubs. While replicating Shenzhen’s model entirely may not be feasible, core elements such as strategic policy-making, infrastructure investment, educational excellence, and collaborative ecosystems are adaptable. They can effectively attract FDI in different contexts. Technological hubs are pivotal in attracting foreign direct investments, as evidenced by Shenzhen, China. Shenzhen has evolved into a premier global tech city from a modest fishing village, thanks to its innovation-friendly environment, advanced infrastructure, and supportive government policies. The city's dedication to research and development, global talent acquisition, and support for startups and multinational companies has significantly bolstered its investment appeal.

فحصت هذه المذكرة دور الأقطابالتكنولوجية في جذب الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر، مع التركيز على حالة شنتشن (Shenzhen)بالصين, جمعت التحليل بين الأطر النظرية وعرض البيانات لتحليل كيفية جذب الأقطابالتكنولوجية مثل شنتشن لمستويات كبيرة من الاستثمارات الأجنبية المباشرة. ويسلط تحول شنتشن من قرية صيد إلى قطب تكنولوجي عالمي الضوء على أهمية سياسة الحكومة والرؤية الاستراتيجية. حيث كان تعيين شنتشن كمنطقة اقتصادية خاصة حاسما، مما يؤكد دور الأطر التنظيمية والحوافز مثل التخفيضات الضريبية، وحماية الملكية الفكرية، والإجراءات البيروقراطية المبسطة في جذب المستثمرين الأجانب.كذلك، كانت البنية التحتية والاتصال من العوامل الرئيسية لنجاح شنتشن. فقد جذبت البنية التحتية التكنولوجية الحديثة، ووسائل النقل الموثوقة، والمرافق البحثية المتقدمة ليس فقط الاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر، بل حفزت أيضا الابتكار والتنافسية.
