The importance of this topic is to study how to achieve food security, which is the main goal, as it is linked to national security and the role of agricultural sector institutions in achieving it, as this study aims to highlight the role of agricultural sector institutions in achieving food security in Algeria during the period 2010-2020, identify the reality of the agricultural sector and evaluate its performance in achieving food security, and know its role in investing in the human element, domestic product and foreign trade, and study the reality of plant and animal production and the trade balance in Algeria.
Where this study found that agricultural institutions (Directorate of Agricultural Interests) have a major role in achieving food security, represented in developing government programs to develop food security, supporting farmers with equipment and monitoring it, agricultural guidance, training and monitoring farmers, providing agricultural guidance and developing strategies for the development of the agricultural sector, and we also studied animal and plant production for the period 2010-2020, we found that Algeria suffers from a significant shortage in the field of cereals, due to the climate, as for vegetables, potatoes and legumes, Algeria has achieved sufficiency, With regard to food security, Algeria has been able to achieve food security and meet the food needs of its population through local production and imports.
